Scott Frederick Scott Frederick captains the good ship CARSON, leading the way to continued growth. Deep of thought and creative, he’s the definition of “entrepreneur.” Scott describes his function at CARSON by stating, “as President of Business Operations, I am responsible for ensuring that CARSON operates as efficiently and cost effectively as possible, without sacrificing quality as we grow our customer base.” In the realm of job satisfaction Scott seems to most enjoy the big picture. “Sharing our goals, working to achieve them in a positive manner and then sharing that success with our team.” One of the big reasons CARSON is such a great place to work and the employees enjoy a very “family” type of atmosphere, is because Scott is a very strong family man. When asked about the most special people in his life, Scott replied, “My family for certain. Sharon and I get a tremendous amount of joy just being with our daughters. As far as a perfect weekend goes, it would simply be doing nothing or anything with my wife and daughters.” Scott and Sharon both are very devoted to each other, their children and extended families. This creates a very secure and unifying atmosphere that extends well into the company itself. Scott explains his basic philosophy in business and life. “I am motivated most by the things in life that are simple. People spend a great deal of time making life much more difficult than it needs to be. Take care of the basics, and the rest comes much easier. The more superficial you make it by running from the simple truths in life, well, the more difficult it gets. I try to see both the forest and the trees, not just one or the other.” He wraps it up by mentioning a favorite book that speaks to the basic postulations of life, and these notions are apparent in the way he runs CARSON. “One of my favorite books is All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum. The message is so simple and really gets to the core of living.” I suggest it as a good read for anyone. |
Sharon Frederick Sharon Frederick is the co-owner of CARSON. Wife of our Fearless Leader and in of herself an adroit and savvy leader in her own right; she guides us with her natural balance of heart, humor and wisdom. As she is an easy and open conversationalist, I expect some good information for the interview. When she explains that she coordinates marketing and creative services, we ask if one might say she brings order to chaos? She laughs. “Some would say I create chaos. I do a lot of little things and am involved in coordination between my departments and the others here. I’m also Scott’s speech writer… well, I write the outlines and he wings it from there.” Like any good captain, her greatest job satisfaction comes from seeing her people get excited over success in their own jobs. “Watching the people around me when they get excited about something we’re doing, whether it is a big casino order from a marketing piece we worked so hard on, or when a wrapper a designer just developed is purchased, or Carol getting excited about a Spanish order, or Gail being right.” (You have to The entire Frederick family is known here at CARSON. Of primary importance to Sharon are her husband and their two smart and sprightly middle-school age daughters, Ellis and Chase. “Scott is always the most important person to me. He’s my life partner. And of course our two daughters Ellis and Chase; the sun rises and sets on them.” Taking on the responsibilities of running a business has changed the ways Sharon prefers to spend her weekends. “Now my ideal weekend is to do nothing. That means being with Scott and my girls, reading books and some type of sedate personal enrichment be it yoga, a day at the spa. I like much more of a relaxing weekend.” But she does have a dream vacation she hopes to experience sometime. “I have a strong desire to go on Safari in Africa. I’m enthralled with the whole animal kingdom and the culture in Africa. The giraffes and elephants running wild, it’s fun, it’s cool. I’m fascinated by the thought.” Knowing this family the way we do, one day she’ll |
Dianne Beeson Dianne Beeson has a warm, generous spirit. Her friendly nature allows her to easily transition between production, the customer care center and marketing. Well-mannered and gracious, Dianne’s talents are hidden within the written word. By day, Dianne works as a copy-writer in the Marketing department. With a flourish of a pen, she adds spark to our email newsletter, effectively describes our wrapper designs on our website, or may provide the punch to a catalog spread. On evenings and weekends, she responds to customer email and processes internet orders. Having direct contact with our customers, Dianne is the customer advocate in many Marketing meetings. When asked to describe what she likes best about her job at CARSON wrappedhersheys.com, Dianne exclaims, “The people! I genuinely like every person here. There’s a very positive energy here; the synchronicity is awesome. Plus, I get paid to do what I love most: writing. Great people + fun job = happy me.” Dianne’s best friends are lifelong connections. “I’m super close to my mother and 4 sisters. And I have a small handful of long time friends, most of who live out west, as I lived in Tucson for many years as a young adult. We stay in pretty close contact, visit regularly and take trips together.” But everyone knows that Dianne’s pride and joy is her son, Joe Max. Dianne states, “My son Joe Max is number 1. He’s away in the Air Force now. I sure do miss him.” A medieval history buff, Dianne describes her dream vacation as, “a massive castle escapade around the British Isles, spending months exploring all manner of castle, be they pristine or in ruins. And at night I would stay in castles reputed to be soundly haunted.” Certainly she would drag a friend or two along. We can’t wait to read the book about this adventure!

Kim Chamberlain Tall and graceful with a unique, soft-spoken but keen humor, Kim Chamberlain illuminates our workplace like a moonbeam bashful of its own natural glow. Even so, she bears up well under the attention she unintentionally but unavoidably draws at times from the effusive gang here at CARSON wrappedhersheys.com. Kim is on our marketing team. She works on e-mail newsletters, website updates, print fliers for promotions and some design on new products. As interesting as her job is, she thinks the people she works with are the best part of her job. “It’s like a big family here.” She also enjoys the fun activities outside of work, such as “Football 101.” As for the job itself, she appreciates most the creative aspect of working in our marketing department. “This job is a good creative outlet. I’m a creative person by nature, so it’s nice to be able to exercise that part of me.” When asked about her husband, she blushes like most newlyweds. “Trent’s not only my husband, but my BFF.” A native of Maumee, Ohio, she is close with her parents who still live there, and her brother who is now in Columbus. Although most of her hometown friends have spread out to other cities, they jump at the chance to get together when they can. To see where her interests lie, we gave Kim’s imagination “I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland and other English speaking European countries where I think my ancestry lies. A trip to the British Isles would be great. I also love mountains, so after the British Isles, maybe we’d head to the Alps. Of course, I love a beach too, so from the Alps we’d have to sweep down to the French Riviera." She then added, “Life is short. I want to travel as much as I can!” As far as weekend activities go, she prefers a more subdued approach. “My perfect weekend would involve a lot of sleeping, a little shopping and a nice dinner out with a glass of wine. Trent and I like to dine out. Other than that, we’re happy just hanging out relaxing with Stella.” When asked if there were any other points of interest she may like to mention, she added, “I’m a huge Ohio State football fan. I’m also a reality TV junkie. I have a photography degree from Miami U. I like a good laugh…” She thought for a moment longer, “Obviously, I love chocolate.” |
Pam Bottles Pam Bottles is blessed with a confident, open, breezy manner… and the most beautiful hair color any woman could want. People are naturally drawn to her amiable personality, making her a very popular personality around CARSON wrappedhersheys.com. She’s also very talented and capable in her job as marketing assistant and company photographer. Although her degree is in photography, she sought a career that encompassed more that just taking pictures. “I wanted to combine photography with marketing/ advertising. It’s a much more interesting path. I like having the broad range of projects to work on that this job provides. But the best part of my job is the people. Everyone is so enthusiastic, and the environment has an effect on how you do your job. We have a great group here.” As an only child, she has strong ties to her parents and the family dog Mindy; and her extended family and friends also figures prominently in her life. “I’m very lucky to have the wonderful family that I do have. I’m very close to my extended family. I saw my cousins on a daily basis growing up. Most of my friends are scattered across the country, but then some have re-located to this area.” When asked what part of the world she’d most like to visit, she hits points all over the globe. “I love experiencing other cultures. I’d love to go to Africa, Greece, and Australia. I’ve had friends who have studied over in Australia and then one of my Aunts recently took a trip there.” Her main hobby, though, is rowing. “I’ve just joined the Greater Dayton Rowing team. I rowed back in high school. I can remember one regatta in West Virginia where our team took it over. I can’t even explain the experience when you’re out there rowing on the water. I enjoy regattas; they have such a great atmosphere to them. You also meet people from all over the country, it’s interesting to see how far people have come.” She has certainly rowed her way into our hearts! |
